Home CNC Router

Building on my experience with furniture design, CAD, and CAM I decided to build an open-source CNC for at-home furniture design (Maslow CNC). This furthered my understanding of G-code, design for manufacturability, and design as a whole.

The main project I completed using this CNC was my 3D printer enclosure (one of the printers used in my other 3D printing projects). This enclosure has curved corners cut from 3/4” plywood and a kerf bent center section.

I learned a lot about the associated inaccuracies of a system such as this due to the lack of rigidity. A better work flow would likely be to make templates on the machine rather than repeated parts as different regions of the machine have different degrees of accuracy. But, on some projects, different parts could be cut and assembled just fine.

I have since disassembled the machine and intend to improve the layout for enhanced accuracy and usability.
