Project Engineering Intern - Dallas, TX
May 2019-August 2019
Danone’s Dallas facility operates 10 production lines 24/7, producing a variety of beverage products. As an intern, I collaborated closely with senior leadership staff to guide varied projects with goals at reducing both monthly and project costs, as well improving line efficiency.
Projects:
Data Visualization Boards
Description: Data visualization boards can be implemented in a variety of ways in a production environment, whether it be on the production floor, in a central location or throughout an entire facility. In this case all levels of implementation were to be explored to best inform the production lines what is happening up and down stream to enhance efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Project Management
Communication with senior leadership and relevant IT and Engineering team members
Outline technical necessities (hardware, infrastructure incorporation, software incorporation)
Cost consolidation
Mock Up Design
Outlined necessary data output and graphics based on feedback collected from team members
Presentation of findings
Accomplishments:
Reduction in project cost of 47%
Utility Data Analytics and Forecasting
Description: In order to confirm expenses paid in power, electricity, gas, and sewer utilities monthly meter data was recorded manually. The ingestion of this data proved to be manual, tedious, and inconsistent. A tool was to be built to unify this data, streamline data entry, compare costs, and predict upcoming expenses.
Responsibilities:
Data ingestion and contextualization
Procedure outlining
Form building
Communication with site maintenance team and utility providers
Demonstrate utility forecasting using historical data
Presentation of findings
Accomplishments:
Streamlined monthly data entry
Enhanced utility cost transparency
